2006 Charger - Engine light/ Limp Mode / PCM , etc

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
2006 R/T charger. 78000 orig mi. Check engine light. Went into limp
mode..brought to my mechanic... (no codes showing for him) .Replace fuel
pump 6 months ago.. light came on intermittently... then limp mode..
eventually did tune up. Light on again and limp mode...2 weeks ago, light
back on and went into limp mode... dodge dealer replaced PCM ($1,200) ..
drove out of dealership and within 5 miles the light came on. Drove right
back to dealer.. Now they said cooling
fan. Replaced both fans and ran for 5 days and now light on and will not shift
out of park. Towed to dealer. Have read people complaining that their
problems continue and no one gets to the real problem. Have read dozens of
similar complaints but not one followed through on what actually solved the
problem. Is there a solution? I just can't keep spending this kind of $ on a 12
year old car that has become very unreliable and dangerous..

Also recently replaced fuel pump, gas cap and spark plugs
Update... shifter replaced at the tune of $400. Drove home and 2 hours later went out and shockingly the engine light is back on. Going back to dealer..
Been back to dealer 2 more times. Now the code is for the key.. the key was an after market key but was never an issue. Tech says key must be programmed to new PCM.. WHY Is this code showing up now and not when PCM installed. Want $300 for new key. Feel I have to so if engine light comes on again I can eliminate the key issue. Is this just going to keep happening?
Hey my man I might be able to help your limp mode problem, I bought an 06 charger rt with 62,000 miles for $1,100 because it needed another motor(MajorBlessing). Bought another used motor for $500 had it put in my car wouldn’t go over 40 mph for months of research my wife found video on YouTube. You put your key in the ignition turn it to ON but don’t start and push the the button by the speedometer which you use to see miles, etc. Then turn key off then start your car you should be good to go, I never had another limp mode problem, it ON doesn’t work it’s ACC. But the dealer was going to have me get the car reset, TCM and a lot more. My wife save us over a $1000
Still at dealer. 1st time they could not come up with a code. As soon as light came on again, drove it to dealer. Throwing cooling fan code (which was recently replaced).. fans working fine but doesn't explain limp mode. Been there 5 days. They checked wiring etc. can't come up with anything
Try doing the limp mode reset yourself, the 1 i explain earlier. Mechanic’s couldn’t fix my problem and I didn’t want dealer because they told my ECM was $700 alone. I never had a limp mode problem again after doing the reset myself and it was in March and I drive like an bat out of hell lol
It’s actually a dash reset that fix my limp mode problem
Thanks for your input! Worth a shot. Dealer holding car another day because they can't get it to repeat.. you know as soon as we get it back we will experience problem. This has been going on since 2017 .

Hey all. Try replacing transmissio conductor plate or google search this 52108308AC Connector. My tranny kept getting stuck in the infamous "limp- mode" (in 2nd gear and rev-limited at 3k rpm) due to a faulty speed sensor (OBDII code reader was showing P2767). The Chrysler dealer took one look at my mileage at 110K and would not even attempt to diagnose it any further, and concluded that a $3500 rebuilt transmission swap was called for. Changed a bunch such as front control module by the fuse box under hood. I suggest changing this faulty part as this could run you unnecessary expenses. https://youtu.be/Kh_9y3bqrWM Check the link. Good luck
been having problems for months with my 2007 dodge charger, it wont go any faster than 40mph, high RPM's but no acceleration, it seems like its not shifting into third gear after 40mph, I changed spark plugs, all new coils, new transmission fluid and filters, im lost and need help any ideas?
When my 2006 charger rt sits at an idle it will die. But starts back right after. It also dies when I come to a stop. Any ideas?
Let me put it to you in a way no one else has I have a 2013 charger 3.6 these cars are a manufacture ripp off for any lower income customers who purchase these cars used and pay lots of money .enless someone is giving car away tired of the problems.Dodge knows the 3.6 l engine in many of there models are bad cylinder head designs and dodge also now's the PCM software is faulty linked to allot of different issues.but dodge pre-setting PCM/ECM failures &to fail due to d.i.y mechanics repairing these vehicals past warrenty coverage is like a fail safe feature guarrentying job security in future .so customers are forced to replace PCM/ECM not able to clear the 3 good trips needed to clear any normal maintiance parts on or done on the car while under warrenty or not well past any coverage on vehicals knowing customers will bring these vehicals and many more models in w/3.6l engines in forcing customers to pay $1200 for part and another $1200 for labor=$2400 if customer wants there car fixed and running .customers are forced into this repair unlawfully at customers expeisnce & this replacement has to be done to every vehical once dealership is no longer held responsible for possiable warrenty covered component losses of recalls and labor costs that may occurs to warrenty expderation dates no longer.have all exoneraited .before any used customer owner attempts to d.i.y repairs are ever attempted on these used vehicals .the fucked up part is if I purchased this vehical brand new u better be smart enough to around 50,000-90,000 miles if u haven't already tradded these dodges in u better do so now .even if u still owe on the vehical I'll endore way more repair cost if u keep this vehical any longer .dodge is knowingly robbing customers new and used customers globally on the most sold and highest manufactured cars high and dry with plans to stop all model dodges from being parts manufactured all together in future forcing customers to only purchase recycled or used parts for all dodge model vehicals (running for the hills I'd say) leaving dodge to manufacturing two vehical models the 2020 +trucks and the 2020+ hell cat charger only from now on.sounds far fetched .u'll see it's coming soon
