If you can scan the code it probably threw, do so, then get to good independent garage or the dealer. No fatal, but will need expertise

Limp mode is your cars way of saying "I'm not going to let you go faster because I think there is something wrong with the engine/transmission. In my experience, the trans connector was leaking (it's what controls the shifting), its very common but expensive to fix.
