Will a 1991 5.7 L fit into a 1997 5.7 L without
much headache

It is electronically incompatible with the 1997 vehicle it will be a nightmare to get it to work.

Yes, the 1991 model is OBD I and the 1997 is OBD II. They're completely different systems that are not compatible with each other at all. Hope that helps! Jim
