Why is my 89 z71 pickup running a low idle?

Question type: General

i just put a new 350 crate motor in it we broke it in already changed the oil. Put
a new thermostat in it it just started it coming to a complete stop at a stop sign.
Went to Oreilly's last night it has no codes and the distributer cap is loose
could my truck be out of time. Or is it something else

The timing issue needs to be checked out, Also, it may be the Idle Air Control Valve. This port should be cleaned out as this a major source of vacuum before installing a new one, and or could be the throttle positioning sensor could be bad.
