Asked by atjmbr Mar 14, 2013 at 07:27 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet C/K 1500 LS Extended Cab RWD

Question type: General

I blew the water pump and water may have gotten into the engine being it's in the oil dipstick??
It won't turn over so I'm assuming there's more wrong??
I'm wanting to sell it as is and don't know what it's worth being the body is in good condition and inside as well.

The body and interior will highly dictate the worth of this vehicle. Somebody who is capable may give you pretty good money for that particular vehicle and slap in a used engine in no time at all. Don't let it go too cheap. It may be worth it to you to swap the engine, then sell for even a bigger profit.

Find a shade tree mechanic and put in a used engine. My guess around 900.00 bucks engine and labor.

Recommend Jasper Engine rebuilds are competitively priced, use ALL NEW components on thier rebuilds and are painted a clever green color. Go to their website or call for an installed price from your preferred wrencher~

Depending where you live, farming community, snow country or the mountains, a used non-engine 4X4 in good condition otherwise but high mileage may bring a higher price than if you live in suburbia. You have a lot of mileage, so that may bring up other questions on what may need fixed, overhauled or replaced to get it running. Consider the cost of a crate engine, rebuilt engine, or used running engine, vs. truck payments. Go with a good engine and have it gone through to get it back up to snuff. You will enjoy the truck. Might even consider a fresh coat of paint if it is needed. Still cheaper that a new truck payment.

And to add to all that great information here's more......you can find a great lower mileage engine if you just search the web on craigslist and/or go to your local LKQ auto salvage where you can generally find a great engine for around $400 and pay someone $250 to install it saving you around $300

In my area old Suburbans are a dime a dozen. If you are really lucky $1,000 or part it out.
