My E500 won't start

Asked by idovertoom972 Jun 13, 2010 at 06:07 PM about the Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Does anyone know why my car won't start? I came home last night and pulled into the driveway and turned it off, but it kept rolling down the driveway eventhough it was in park. And know when I try to start the car everything will turn on, but the engine won't turnover (it won't even try). Can anyone give me any suggestions?

I would look first at the neutral safety switch. See if it will start when you put it in neutral. They are around $60

yea same thing happened in my car, and it was the neutral safty switch, i just had it disabled by a mechanic, or you can get it replaced for fairly cheap.

if you can't feel each gear when you move your gear shifter, your linkage has come a loose from the transmission cable,it happened to me on our 03 E500,I was told it's a common problem on 211 chassis
