03 ford ranger battery drains and won't start

Truck has the not
starting problem and I
have been going
around and check out
everything I know to
check! The kicker is
the battery drains
really quick and the
battery charger has
microprocessor and
will not charge unless
battery no connected

How old is the battery? They have a life, usually no more than 8 years old until they won't hold a charge anymore. The average is 5 years. Take the battery over to an auto parts store so they can test it for free.
