Check your gas cap. It might be loose or missing the gasket. Sometimes that will cause a no-code light.

Their seems to be play in cap when I took it off and turned it in my hand.
The emissions system will briefly pressurize the fuel tank on occasion to capture and burn fuel vapors. If it won't hold pressure, the light comes on but may not trip a code until it comes on 3 drives/trips in a row. In GMs, it may never trip a code.

I'm having the same problem. But the check engine light came on after the e-check tech for done with it. He was rather rough with it.
Is it alright to have the check engine light turned off by a mechanic on a dodge caliber sxt?

I changed the gas cap on my car and it stills shows check engine light. My car is a 2012 how long does it take for the light to go off? Or could it be. Something else?
Mine does the check engine light a LOT. My mechanic read the past codes, something about the thermostats. He said as long as it doesn't overheat, and the heat or AC work,, don't worry about it. It doesn't, and heat, A.C. work so I ignore it. My light started coming on when it was really cold out.
Mrswoods840 if it was the gas cap, the words GAS CAP would be displayed instead of an engine.

The engine light symbol came on 4 days ago on my 2008 Dodge Caliber SXT. Should I be worried? It's running normal and I have not experienced it over heating yet. What should I do?
