Battery light comes on

What is wrong when battery light cimes on and goes out after turning off engine?

I would have the battery and alternator tested.

i have had both changed within last year. recently light started to come again, and would go off when ignition turned off. Took back to have looked at, they told me battery was bad, so i took battery back and got it replaced, light came back on again. kept taking it back telling them it was alternator, and they could not ever get light to come on. i took it back when the light was on, and they said it was the voltage regulator or module in alternator. so they replaced alternator again. got it back from shop yesterday, drove about 20 miles, filled fuel tank up, and light came back on again. turned off with ignition on.off again. so frustrating not being able to figure this out.

I’m having the same issue I think it’s something faulty in the electrical system the more I research the more I find this is a widespread issue in the model. I had the same thing happen on a Nissan pickup after changing alt and battery still did it then figured out belt was stretched replaced it and fine but you could tell because lights dimmed engine almost died when stopped at red light or stop sign and other things you would expect if not getting enough voltage but my caliber runs fine when the light comes on then goes off after reset (key off and back on) really strange if you ever found a fix please let me know

I changed alternator and problem solved.

i have a 2007 dodge caliber that I bought used with a little over 41000 miles on it. i drove it for about a month with no issues. at first the battery light came but if i turned the car off and restarted it the light would go off. after a few weeks of this the situation became more severe. first the battery light came on then the avs light came on. after driving for a few more miles the brake light came on and i lost all power. i had the alternator replaced and this solved the problem for a week and a half. now it's doing the samething. the battery tested good. not sure what it could be
