ignition key will not turn when inserted into position, doors clkick and lgihts work
but key is frozen in place and will not turn at all

Is your steering wheel locked? I have a 2013 Nissan versa, my steering wheel lock mechanism put the key cylinder in such a bind, I can't turn the key. If the steering wheel does lock, I have to pull hard on the steering wheel to take the tension off the key cylinder, then I can turn the key. I never lock my steering wheel, anymore and I bought this vehicle new, dealership said it was normal. lol You may have a different issue? Just a thought.

Steering wheel is locked but pulling on the steering wheel does not work to unlock the key mechanism.

I don't know your model year? It might be a mechanical issue or communication issue of some kind? At the moment, I don't know?
