Found a wet spot on top of gas tank on my 2001 Honda accord

Just bought a 01Honda Accord Coupe 3.0 Engine VTEC V6 previous owner claimed that when he fills up the tank it smells like gas but when it goes down to half a tank the smells go away. Took it to Good Year and they told me that the found a wet spot on top of the gas tank so it could be a gas line leak, gas pump or anything else and that it would be a costly job. Any ideas or people that had the same issue?

most tanks rot along the seam on top of the tank where dirt and salt collect over the years. Leaking gas could cause a fire so it's a little more serious than it smells bad,

Drop the tank and inspect all gaskets and check the seams on it if it's just the seals then replace them and at the same time you can take it down to a shop and have a pressure test done that will tell you if there any cracks somewhere along the seam
