so Jeep GC have 2 different transfer cases. One is like an all wheel drive and the other is like the old trucks that were rear wheel drive and then 4 wheel drive. One is called select trac and the other is called command trac. Selec Trac (NV 242) has 2wd, 4wd part time, 4wd full time, N, and 4 lo. Command Trac (NV 231) has 4wd part time, 4wd full time, N, 4 lo. So if you have command trac and you remove the front driveshaft, the jeep probably won't move. I can't remember if you can put it into 4wd full time and that may engage the lock inside the transfer case to allow it to move but it may not be good for the transfer case, long term. Also, be sure to shut off the engine when you put it into 4wd full time then start it back up and see if it will move. If you have select trac, with the 2wd mode on the selector then the jeep should still move in 2wd. Hope this helps. Dale
