Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Still having an issue with my truck not starting, it's
not fuel. I was told it might be something to do
with the security in it. Theres wires by the ignition
they said, there is nothing there just a hole where
the ignition was. I was wondering if any one knew
if there was a way to bypass it all so I could at
least start it so I could drive to wreaking hard to
get a used steering column:??? Plz in need of
help...

If the security system is involved you need to have your local Chevrolet Dealer make the repairs. Replacing the steering column with a used one will not fix the problem. The computer will not recognize the key that comes with the steering column. Replacing the lock cylinder will not work either because, again, the computer will not recognize the new key. To program new keys yourself you need to already have one working key. Don't waste your time on the ten minute or 30 minute relearn procedure that everyone talks about. This is for a very specific repair to the security system and will not work in your situation. Hope that helps! Jim

Thanx Jim. Man more money to be spent on my baby. Just happy that they didnt end up stealing my truck. That would have been way more money.
