Can someone help with power steering problems?

So I'm trying to help my husband out. He is working on a 2007 Ford Taurus. The power steering pump went out and he replaced that with a new pump and couldn't get it to bleed. Then he found a hole in the cooler line in front of the radiator so replaced that and fluid still shot out. So now we just replaced the filter and still nothing. It seems like it has gotten worse from before. Can someone help figure out what the problem might be now. We are both lost in checking everything
are the power steering hoses, ok? They're not blocked or anything? I may be outdated, to bleed, I take return line loose from power steering pump, aim into container, rotate pulley with my finger to circulate fluid. Is the rack/pinion assembly ok? As far as cooler line, for the transaxle? So you have two different problems?
After you fill the fluid reservoir attached to the power steering pump with fluid, you start the car and turn the steering wheel back and forth, lock to lock to work the air out of the system. If you still have a leak, you need to find out where.
TDolby is spot on. Any leaks should be easy to find. Make sure to use the proper fluid and in this case that will be MerconV and nothing else.
