Due to electronic incompatibility issues it will take a lot of of work.

The 04 has a computer and wiring for a 4 wheel drive with an automatic transmission and a V8 while yours has computer and wiring for a 6 cylinder rear wheel drive with a manual transmission. Totally incompatible. You would have to transfer everything and I die mean everything from the 04 into your truck thus making it a 4wheel drive with an automatic and a V8. I have seen this done but it takes weeks of trial and error to get everything right.

Thank you. The reason im asking is cause my dad blew his transmission up and got a new truck and i wanted the V8 from his truck

The only way you could make it work is to find a wrecked RWD truck of the same year that has a V8 and use the computer and wiring harness from it, but you won’t know if it will work until you get it all hooked up. Personally I would just pass on the idea. It not like the old days, you could swap out engines with not much work cause most had a V8 as a optional engine so everything was setup so a swap could usually be done on a weekend, and finish the small stuff on the next.
