Engines

Okay, you're going to get flack on this question....But before that here's your answer. When someone describes an engine many times it's designated by a letter followed by a number. The letter is the arrangement of cylinders and the number is the number of cylinders.... V8= 2 banks of cylinders offset at an angle such that their path of travel resembles a V, with 8 cylinders (4 per bank)... V6= 2 banks of cylinders offset at an angle such that their path of travel resembles a V, with 6 cylinders (3 per bank)... I4= 1 bank of cylinders (inline), 4 cylinders I6= 1 bank of cylinders (inline), 6 cylinders H4= 2 banks set 180 degrees apart (horizontally opposed) often referred to as a boxer engine, 4 cylinders (2 per bank) W12= 4 banks of cylinders offset at an angle (Like 2 V bank engines side by side... VV~W), 12 cylinders (3 per bank) Did that make sense?
