I have a 2009 chevy aveo that does not have pickup from first to second gear and it takes 4100 rpm to shift from first to second gear.also it feels like there is no pickup when steeping on the accelerator.what is wrong and how can I fix it?

I have an 05 Dakota Quad Cab SLT with 3.7L (V6) and it has a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. When I start excellerating from a stop, the truck RPM shifts smoothly through first two gears then it quickly shifts through third to fourth gear which causes truck to bog down. I have press on gas pedal little harder and it shifts back into third and picks up speed then shift into fourth around 48 mph.
