Question type: Shopping & Pricing

hi guys, any help will be appreciated. To be perfectly honest, I have no clue or
experience when it comes to cars. I am 19 and I will just use  my car for daily use eg
going to work everyday and maybe shopping i dunno lol. I have selected a few cars
with links in them and if anyone can recommend me an appropriate one from those
would be great. if you can take the time to explain why its good option for a first time
buyer that would be great. many thanks in advance. I need to know especially about
the costs...ah man the costs

Get an older Volvo. That way when you crash it, and we all crash our first car, you can walk away.

Or a Saab. The junkyards are full of them so parts will be cheap and plentiful.

Hit up relatives and friends of relatives to see if anyone is selling a good used car with low mileage. You'll have better luck that way than online ads. An older car with low miles is better than a newer car with high miles. Stay away from exotics, and muscle cars/tuners will drain your finances. Never agree to pay for a car from an online ad or Ebay without test driving it first, and bring someone older who has experience buying cars (or bring a mechanic friend). Things to check when looking at a used car - Check Engine lights (can be serious issues if on), AC (test all the heater/AC settings, blend door operations), fuel/brake/trans/oil lines for rust/leaks, trans shifting properly. Check wheel play/suspension noises, if you don't want to pay for new parts right away. Check tire tread depth if you don't want to pay for new tires right away. When driving apply brakes slowly and try to feel any pulsing, which would indicate worn/warped rotors. Consider that buying a car also means paying for insurance and replacing at some point tires/brakes and routing maintenance like oil changes, etc. Good luck
