what are the best cars for teens driving in the snow

We are buying our son a car to take to Colorado State for the Fall and want it
to be SAFE and SNOW READY.  Would love some ideas!

Look for a good AWD or 4 wheel drive vehicle and put good snow tires on it. Make sure they understand how to use 4 wheel drive and how to drive safely in snow.
