What do you think happened to this car?

Question type: General

What do you think happened? I was told it was from
swerving and smashing into a guardrail. Could that really
happen from a guardrail on the highway.

It's possible, all I can see from the damage is an object that was about wheel height put a nice gouge in the door. If it was guardrail, I would have though it would also be the front door. but it could have been on a curve or end of section. Either way, your looking at replacing the door.

I agree. Guardrails are very sturdy and don't move. They're designed to prevent a vehicle from going off the road and down an embankment or maybe off a cliff. Many years ago my Father was on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and crashed into a guardrail. He hit a patch of ice and the car was totalled. Hope that helps! Jim

If there was no guard rail the damage would have been far worse!
