How willing are car dealerships to lower the price of a car at least $500?

Very likely if you are paying cash, you know money talks and (you know the rest) If you are financing, make an offer, they might...if it's a $15-20,000 car, probably. If you are talking a $5k car, not so much. Find out how long it's been listed and/or on the lot, if it's been 6 months or more they will work with you. Mention that you know it's been for sale for a long time (if that's the case)...look for scratches and such.."Well this car could use some touch up,..." "needs tires..." push down on the rear of the car with all your weight and if it bounces, "hey, this car needs shocks.."
