Question type: Maintenance & Repair

suddenly, my 2001 LS 430's driver's side door has locked preventing me from exiting it. Opens from outside fine - all other doors functioning perfectly. Have to climb to other side to get out.

You can't roll the window down and open the door from the outside?

What a stupid answer...obviously the cable that attaches to the inner door handle is broken or detached. That’s the appropriate suggestion to a positive conclusion rather than a dumb ass trying to look condescending/smart. If you’re a DYI this is a removal of door panel to confirm the integrity of the mechanics or lack there of. Next attaining the appropriate parts for the fix. Avoid the “stealership” if possible. Next, you tube the steps necessary to fix. It’s not easy but, it’s doable. When it’s accomplished you will have saved yourself $1,000.00 and learned a lot about your car. Well done!

Lexus part number: 69750-50030 is the green encased cable that opens the drivers door from the inside when everything else functions properly.
