how many miles or how long do the batteries last in a lexus rx hybird

If I'm not mistaking, dealer warranty is 10 years or 100k miles. Is yours a 2006 or 2007? Reading some posts, people have had them for 125k miles to 150k but that's about it.
We have a 2006,150K miles. So far no problem with Hybrid battery. I found so many complaint for RX300 and 350 engines and now cracks on the dashboard for which the dealer has been dilly dallying that I decided not to ever buy a Lexus.because Lexus' quality and customer service are much worse than other auto companies. I have high end cars and top sports cars all these years (Gullible?). Now I am convinced that there are better cars(may not be flashy) for much less money, e.g Hyundai. SURPRISE!
We have a Lexus RX 400h , late 2006, it has now done 395,000 K's , we have just changed the rear discs and the front discs were changed at 200,000 K's, ( that is about 250,000 miles for the rears and about 125,000 miles for the front discs ) I do NOT know what the service is where you are , But the quality of service here in the ACT ( Canberra ) Australia is Fantastic . So ,--- Arunr76,-- I would say check another dealer and report the dealer with whom you are dealing with to Lexus HQ in Japan
So to answer your question o2man the batteries to my Knowledge are still going strong, The Inverters I believe it was , were changed by Lexus at NO charge to me !
Thank you jacko101. Actually the dealer changed the dash board sooner than I expected. It makes me unhappy and insecure to read all the complains about Lexus because i thought it is the most long lasting SUV. I have 153k miles and it has been running like a champ. I had brakes overhauled and a new battery put on a year or two ago. Besides changing tires I have had no problem. But reading all these complaints, I am becoming uneasy especially of the hybrid battery. Nobody has any answer how long the hybrid can last. Yours has 395k km is equal to almost 250k mi which is reassuring. Actually my dealer in Toledo, OH, usa is good. I had timing belt changed at 105k miles. It is supposed to be changed every 90k mi. Other than that except oil change, no big service has been required. It is my wife's car. I offered her a Mercedes SUV. But she loves this Lexus and would not part with it.I assume that your hybrid had no problem. Thank you again.
My 2007 400H with 187,000 miles on it (mostly in Arizona) still has original brakes and I've seen no degradation in mileage or hybrid battery condition. I was worried, because our hot weather is a battery killer. We go through 12-volt batteries once every 18 to 24 months, and so far the dealer has replaced it for free every time! The only major replacement I've had to make was the radiator, which developed a pinhole leak. I love this SUV and would but one again Lexus except for that navigation system scam that Lexus has going. I refuse to pay $200 to update maps that I get for free on my Google Maps app.
my wife's 06 Rx400H has 154k miles with a leak on left top of radiator. It has been 4/5 years and I had not put any anti fridge . It has ran through 20 to 95 degrees in Toledo. When I got the timing belt changed 4/5 years ago at 105K miles, I found that the timing belt was like new unless the dealer gave me the new one and left the older intact. I would suggest that you do the same thing with the radiator. Other than that the car is a champ.
I like to thank jaco101 for your input about the Hybrid.
My 2007 Rx 400h was replaced free of charge after 10 years, Lexus acknowledged the flaw. Fantastic service!
GiruWHVH8, What was the fault with the RX400h that you had ! That Lexus gave you another ? I would be REALLY interested to know about all issues !
GuruWHVH8 , I just noticed typo, see above post! Would be REALLY interested in your story , regarding replacement of said SUV ?
Hello guys have you ever change battery pack , and if Yes how much cost you
I have a 2008 rx400h with 270,000 miles. I drive in the North Carolina mountains, so I do replace brakes and tires more frequently than most. Despite my concern about battery life I’ve kept the car and probably. It has been the most reliable car i’ve Ever owned. Other than changing the CD player a few years ago I’ve had nothing other than routine scheduled maintenance. If it ever dies I’ll replace it with another Toyota product. Henry
I have a 2007 RX400 with 210,000 miles.. I had the water pump and timing belt changed at 190,000 and apart from that just routine servicing.. just about to have all four brake discs changed but a superb car, my third lexus and certainly the best car i have ever owned.
I am in the used car business and we sell all makes and models. I can tell you that Toyota, Lexus, and Honda require far less reconditioning than any of the other models. I would rather have a used Lexus than any new euoropean car. One can easily go broke trying to keep them on the road after the warranty expires. The other asian cars are trying very hard and getting better all the time. The biggest difference is when you drive a Lexus with 150k compared to other types you will notice a big difference ...the Lexus still feels new.
Regarding service,I bought a used Rx330 with a cracked dash and the dealer replaced it free of charge and gave me a loaner to drive while in the shop... retail would have been over a grand to replace it...this is my third trouble free Lexus all well over 100k
Question I have been offered a RX400h by a friend that wants to sell it, it's 10 years old with just 35.000 miles but she informs me that she has had 6 battery replacements the reason being that the car would not start in the morning because the battery would lose its charge overnight. The dealer has provided her a way to connect to charge the battery overnight. The car is garaged and so she has a power outlet to do this, my problem if I by this car I don't have access to a power outlet as I live in an apartment building. Has this battery issue been resolved.
Got used 2010 Lexus 400 hybrid, still runs great and reliable at over 90,000 miles
My used 2010 Lexus 400 hybrid still runs great with no problem at over 90 thousand miles
Also have 2010 Lexus 400h that still runs excellent with no problem
My 2010 Lexus 400 h with over 90k miless still runs great
My 2010 Lexus 400h runs great too w no problem
I have a 2006 Lexus RX400H with 283,000. It has the original batteries and still runs like new! I use Amsoil oil and filters and besides normal maintenance and doing a complete maintenance every 100k miles, it has never had a major repair! Best vehicle I have ever owned by far!
2006 Rx400h 240,000 miles and hybrid batteries still going strong - best car ever!!!!!
I'm just about to buy my third Lexus, the first was is200, Lexus replaced the curbed wheels free of charge TWICE couldn't believe my luck when they said they would put it down as corrosion, they even cleaned it inside and out at the same time. kids were getting bigger so bought a 2 year old RX300 it's now 16 years old, apart from brakes and normal service parts, in 16 years its had shock absorber and a starter motor, Lexus changed the cd player (whole centre console) that went wrong free of charge after the warranty had expired. The only reason I'm changing it now is because someone drove into the back of us technically writing it off. Fantastic service and great reliable car, I don't think I'll ever by anything else after stories I hear about other makes.
I bought a 2006 400h at the end of 2007. Current mileage is 107k. All maintenance has been performed in a timely manner at either the Lexus or Toyota dealerships according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Nothing out of the ordinary has been needed. I have been very pleased with this vehicle. No issues whatsoever with the hybrid battery. However, this month I noticed the passenger side of the dashboard has developed some cracks. Should I invest in having it replaced in a vehicle this age, and if so, through the dealership or a body shop?
Reading these blogs ....I'd get on down to the local Lexus dealers who mostly all seem to be cousins of Father Christmas and will replace it and your CD player and refurb /replace your wheels and anything else you think might be dodgy or fancy changing at the drop of a hat!! Is this all written in their lunch hour by Lexus trainee mechanics grovelling for a job??
I bought a 2006 400H new, I now have 386K KM and it still runs like new. I had to change the wheel bearings twice, because of the bad road conditions here in Québec. I will keep it until it dies. Or maybe I will die first!
My 2006 RX400h has 150,000 miles and still runs great. I went on this forum to check on cost of replacing the hybrid battery and saw 1 post saying $9,000. I love my car and don’t ever want to part with it!
My 2008 RX 400 H has 139,000 miles with no indication that the hybrid battery is deteriorating, all is well. It still has the original spark plugs which Lexus recommends changing at 120,000 miles. I am curious about the owners that have very high mileage on their RX400h as to how long is there a spark plugs lasted. I have read that some have changed their ignition coil‘s along with new plugs since it is very difficult to change plugs and or coils on the back bank of the V6 engine.
My 2006 RX400h has 211,000 miles on the original hybrid battery. I am debating whether to trade it in soon or try to keep it another year and one half. But I do have a bad story about Lexus service. The starter battery went dead and I tried to jump it. Screwed up in dark and crossed the cables, burned it out. Had it towed to dealer. They said it needed new wiring harness, engine needed to be pulled to replace it, and it would cost $11,000. Wife was not speaking to me. Had to have it towed back home. Tow truck driver said I could just splice on a new cable end. I did that and fixed it for $16.95. Not going there any more for non-warranty service.
We're on our 6th ('15 ES300h) and 7th ('17 RX450h) Lexuses. Our previous Lex, an 06 RX400h we gave to our daughter and her husband when their Mazda 3 died. It has 185,000 mi on it and with the exception of a replaced timing belt, 12v battery, a few sets of tires and new brake pads, it's been stone cold reliable. All of the others we've owned ( a total of 2 GS's, 2 ES's, 2 RX's and an LS) have been equally reliable. Man did I love that LS430. It literally floated on the highway...but that big V8...starting that car was like flushing a toilet.
My Lexus 2006 RX400h was totaled June 16th, 2019 by my daughter with 219,995 miles on it, and it could of gone at least 200K more. I loved that car! So now I'm in the market for another Lexus RX hybrid. They really hold their value so it is pretty tough finding one within the insurance payout.
The warranty is 8 years 100k miles, they generally last around 150-200k miles. -Lexus of Towson Sales
If you need a replacement hybrid battery, try greanbeanbattery.com Replacement, including installation at your location, is $2549. 5 year unlimited warranty. I had them do my son's 2007 Camry Hybrid, excellent service. Now just hoping my RX 450h holds up, I just passed 120k miles.
I have a 2010 rx450 with 235km it shows 7 bars on the battery at best, howl ong do you think it will last? Kiwi brendon
For owners who are having problems with dashboards cracking ,when I bought my used 2008RX400h my dashboard was immaculate an I decide to keep it that way so I bought a beautiful cover that goes on top of the dashboard so that the sun will not dry rot my immaculate dashboard ,it fits perfect an all holes are cut out so the air vents an defroster work as they should an I get lots of comments because of the beautiful material that its made of ,I also bought seat covers that match the color to the tee on the front lower seats so that if should sell the car later I can remove them an still have the beautiful grey leather seats that came factory ,friends do not even notice because they fit so perfect an also have small pockets in the front which I never use ,back to the dashboard some owners do not realize that when a car is park directly under the sun the windshield because of its round design make a magnified effect an really add a lot of heat to the dashboard an thats why its always good to get a inner windshield cover or you can do what I did an buy a dashboard cover they come in 4 different colors an they really look great ,mine is black an I love the compliments for 45 dollars you can't go wrong or even if you want to cover up a dashboard that has cracks on it ,my wife an I love our 2008 Lexus an were gonna take as good of care as I possibly can .BTW I bought the dashboard cover an seat covers on Ebay an the dash cover is so easy to install an never moves with the two sided tape it comes with
Question: in terms of purchasing price, retail price and long-term costs, would you buy a 2006-2007 second hand Rx 300 with gasoline engine or 400h? Say both would be in original condition and you´d keep the car 5yrs.

My 2008 rx400h has 246,500 miles and hybrid battery is just now dying. This car has been a rock star! Very few issues. Mostly routine stuff. Debating putting in a used hybrid battery....
I would check around to see what the price of a new or refurbished battery pack is. If it is not too expensive, I would probably spend the money. My 2006 RX 400H now has 311,000 miles and everything is original, including the batteries. It still runs like new!
I have an Rx400h and it’s now showing 245,000 miles. Discs and pads (all round) were flagged at last MOT as needing replacement soon. Owned it for 3 years and apart from regular servicing and tyres hasn’t given me an ounce of trouble. Hybrid batteries are still going strong. Bodywork and alloys are now needing some work. It’s getting on a bit but I’m reluctant to part with it. If I do, I’ll probably buy another Lexus or a Toyota.
Just bought a 2017 RX 450h with 20,000 miles on it. Immaculate condition. Hoping to get 200,000 miles before replacing hybrid batteries. I did see someone posted about greenbeanbattery.com having hybrid battery packs for under $3,000 installed.

Our 2007 RX 400h has about 220,000 miles still on the original hybrid battery. The only major work was replacing the radiator which I did myself (2016). I keep with the oil change every 3-4 months. There is a little bit wear and tear in the interior due to the kids; the exterior still looks very good. The wife is looking at a bigger car for the growing family, but this is by far our most reliable car and still going strong.

My RX 400h has about 110,000 miles. I never had a reparation till now ( just service oil and brakes ). 2 weeks ago, car stopped suddenly. I had to change Inversor-Coverter from hybrid battery to engine: 5300 Eur repair. This week before taking it back , they called me that there was a problem with ABS system: adittional 2000 Eur to change brake actuator. TOTAL : 7300 Eur In spite of that, I must tell that car is very reliable and you still feel in it as you were driving when it was new. Great machine !! Should go for Lexus when I buy new one. Regards from Barcelona , Catalonia !
My 2006 RX 400h has 220k miles on it so far and is still running like a champ. I am the original owner and have only had to do normal, regularly scheduled maintenace. I also preemptively changed the timing belt last year. The only problems I've started having recently are: 1) The rear hatch collects a little rain in one of the lights. The opening mechanism also has a mind of it's own and likes to reclose spontaneously when we're trying to open it. This is probably the result of shoddy repair work after someone rear-ended me years ago. 2) There are a couple of cosmetic issues like hairline cracks on the passenger side dash and a couple of gouges in the leather on the doors in the back. I haul crazy things in it like it's a truck, so there's no surprise there. 3) If I sit parked in one place with the air conditioner on when it's really hot outside, it sometimes starts blowing hot air after a while. Turning the engine off and back on fixes that problem. 4) The seatbelts don't retract as well as they used to. Other than those things, none of which bother me enough to pay to repair at this point, it has been a phenomenal car that we love driving. We're just going to keep driving it until it dies (or we do first!)

There are many replacement parts that are in great shape at the Salvage yard or on Ebay .Do not just let your ol Lexus fade away ,I have a friend who has a 2007 400h an he's on 325,000 miles on the original battery an the Lexus still looks Gorgeous ,I am Autobody tech an anytime there is a part that goes out such as rear hatch locks or leather seat cover ,we just buy them cheap at the Salvage Yard an she's back on the road .I have a 2008 400h with 100412 miles an we only use the car for out of town trips which we love driving ,the only thing I have put on it are both blue hybrid headlights because of water seeping in ,but she's as beautiful as the day I bought her used at 82000 miles from a wonderful owner who did all the dealership services. Yes I am planning on buying a newer Lexus but for now me an my wife will just keep on cruising down the road .
I have a 2006 RX400H with over 323,000 miles. It has the original hybrid batteries, engine and transmission and still runs like new! They are amazing vehicles.

I had a 2006 rx400h, written off by a taxi last September, I'm now in Spain & I've decided to buy another, mine had 206000 miles on it. I had it serviced by a lexus mechanic who praised it, it had all genuine lexus parts & was mint & a pleasure to drive, the miles don't bother me! Best car I've owned
