Ask your dealer. Ain't green grand? Ha!

You are right js08016 about the danger. But the question asked by 02man is the cost to replace the hybrid battery. I am interested in knowing that, but more importantly is how long it may last.
203,000 miles on my '06. No problem yet with the hybrid battery. It goes through starting batteries fairly quickly, though.
Does anybody have an hones, straight forward answer to the question of how much it costs to replace a Lexus rx400h? My sister traded in hers, for a smaller non-hybrid Lexus, as hers neared 100k miles. She liked the car but, according to her, she asked he LEXUS DEALER: HOW MUCH TO INSTALL A NEW HYBRID BATTERY? the answer, according to her: $9.000. That was this summer, 2018. Possibly this question should be asked of the dealer - since it seems impossible to get a straight forward, honest, non-biased, non-political (though possibly true) answer here. Since I was looking at a very low mileage ct200h, and was searching for an answer about the cost of the battery, I guess I should take my own advice and ask the local Lexus dealer. IF ANYBODY CARES about the history, according to her, of her rx400h: - The big 6,000+ pound SUV, is prohibited from towing anything. No problem for her. - Averaged about 21mpg over its life - a balance of city bypass, interstate and city. - about the same mpg as hr new 22.0 twin turbo smaller Lexus SUV - Dealer kissed her ass with service but the charges were very high (as in BMW/Mercedes high - the reason I will no longer buy German or GMs cars that are in reality Opel (Buick was perfect before they became Opels in Buick Disguise. - She had zero non-scheduled maintenance issues.
The Battery is about $4500 and the installation another $2500. I need one for my 2008 Lexus RX400 :(
@GuruLJGF2, how many miles did you, have when it needed replacing? I am now reconsidering buying a used 2008 with 80,000k. Thanks, jean
Ya I was told about $6000 by Lexus service dept to install new Rx400h hybrid battery pack. PS - My 2006 has 293,000 and batteries are still fine.
I got a refurbished Battery for $2000 for my Lexus after 150 000k
I was just quoted $6100 to replace my hybrid battery on my 2008 RX400h. I love this car but replacing the battery for that much will cost me more than the cars worth. I’d love to get a refurbished battery. I mentioned that to the dealer and he said it could be dangerous, sounds like a bunch of *#£€¥+># to me but I really don’t know. Do any mechanics outside of dealerships replace these batteries with refurbished ones for less?
Dealer quote is $6000ish but but but.... You can buy a referb on ebay for $800- $2000 ... Install quotes are $300 non dealer-$2500 dealer... youtube says you can pout it in yourself super easy...
I’m the person with the RX400H in need of a hybrid battery. After the dealer first quoted me $7100, then dropped to $6100, I went to a local mechanic (even though the dealer said it was dangerous). This local mechanic took a few days but found a good refurbished hybrid battery. He installed it in my fav car and it works beautifully. I’m so happy and it cost a total of $2500.
I have an 08 RX400h. 181,000 miles and running perfectly. I have changed the timing belt twice and th last time I also had a new water pump installed because it did not increase the labor of the timing belt change. All my work has been done at Stevenson Lexus of Lakewood, Colorado. Great dealership!
From doing research online your 2008 RX400h has a timing chain, not a belt. There is no recommendation for changing it now.....I have 2006 RX400h with 183K miles. Never have replaced the chain.
