Question type: General

I recently bought a 2009 Lexus ES 350 (used). It is showing TVMS sign. I
went to mechanic and he checked all the four regular tire pressure and
TPMS sensors and everything is good. But he advised that the current spare
tire is smaller in size and doesn't have TPMS sensor and the system is not
allowing him to reset the TPMS. So he said I will be needing a full size
regular tire with TPMS sensor in order to reset this. Is that true? This Lexus
ES 350 requires full size spare tire with sensor?

Thanks for your reply. while Dealer is saying that spare Tire doesn't need Sensor and has nothing to do with TPMS sign. They are saying that one of the sensor is faulty but I went to Costco and Sears and they checked all tires and sensors and said everything is fine. Lexus is asking for $140 for diagnosis and $100/sensor for any faulty sensor. While I am getting a new Regular wheel (Rim+Tire+TPMS sensor) in $200. Any advise if I should go for Regular Tire and spend $200 or go to Dealer which will surely cost me more than $200. I really appreciate your help. Thanks a lot once again.
