yep. Good tuning to keep it from detonating, and if you really want to be safe put some lover comp pistons in and get a good tuner.

There are plenty of ways to lower compression. If you're still worried you can try out superchargers which run lower boost pressures than turbochargers.

turbochargers can run low boost too.. just have to get weaker wastegate spring.

there are ways to address this problem. 1. reduce compression ratio 2. retard the ignition 3. use higher octane fuel for M or AMG engine, I would say use higher octane fuel and try to stay on low boost.

About fuel though, it depends on where you stay. Most of the states has rather low octane fuel. Dont see 97 or 98's around.

Tune on corn. There is starting to become great availibility of the fuel across the country. But, even still it is a challenge to tune on high compression and high boost it is a verytight margin.

Well, you'd get great power out of high compression and low boost anyway. Boosting an m5 would be insane. I mean it already comes stock with 500bhp/400whp. If only it werent so goddamned heavy.

You could also swap the head gasket for a thicker one, OR stack two. My 2 cents.
