Toyota Caldina 4WD Rear diff noisey.......Is there a bearing between the drive shaft and diff?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Got a serious whine developing at the rear of the car....sounds like the diff,
but I did here there is a bearing in there somewhere that helps distribute
power evenly to both wheels that could be the culprit. Thinking it was the
diff, I got that switched out for a second hand one, but within 4 months the
same noise developed.......so just not completely sure I ever got a
replacement diff.....maybe a noisey bearing just got some grease. Any
ideas?
