1985 iroc z28 california promotional package
Asked by 85calIroc Jan 25, 2018 at 04:25 AM about the 1985 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Coupe RWD
Question type: General
In 1984 my father bought a brand new 1985
Iroc Z28 that listed the "California
promotional package " listed on the options
list on the original sticker. At the time they
said only 500 were produced with this option.
Now Chevy denies the cars existence. I know
this cannot be true because I have the
original sticker framed under glass hanging in
my living room. The car is parked in my shop.
I would appreciate any information regarding
this strange automobile. Thank you.

I found some info on this z28 at...... z28.com a whole lot of info, should be very helpful..states only 502 were made only for california dealerships
I also had 1984 California special z28 iroc. Mine was red T-top I was told only 500 was made 250 red 250 black. It did not have the Irock hood or spoiler also no stickers on the door the only Irock badge was inside on the dash passenger side. It was a tuned port 5.0, I believe with the 700 turbo transmission. I loved this car in highschool this could keep up and beat some 5.7 trans am and 5.7 Irock how I miss my old car sold it in the 90s for 5k with an extra set of tires in Fresno Ca.
Promotional code was RPO code 1C5, I own a California Special Iroc, actually in Fresno Ca
I bought a new 1985 iroc California special in Dinuba Ca. My understanding was that each dealer took delivery on one. The only IROC notation on the car that I can recall was on the wheel hub. Red beauty with black glass top. Loved that car. Fun 4 seater. More fun than some Vets I’ve owned since.

This was my car my dad bought me when I graduated from Art Center in Pasadena. I believe he bought it from a dealership in Chico. They sold us the 500 limited. Ca. only. I did love the car. I never liked the graphics on the TransAms or normal Z28's. It was classy but so fun. I appreciated my dad doing that. I (and my kids wish!) I had kept it. But, kids were born and I did sell it... to by a Honda Accord. Lol. Then a Jeep and a series of SUV's. I now have a Mercedes Kompressor, 2000. I love it. Circle of life!

@85caliroc I also owned a 1985 California IROC. I've been doing a lot of research on these cars...in fact, the advertisement of the black California IROC in this thread is in an old article I wrote for Camaro Performers magazine. If you're interested in being part of my research, you can reach me on Facebook at @camarodotfamily or on Instagram at @camaro.family I attached a photo of my old 1985 California IROC.
