2005 CRV Need help

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife was driving our 2005 CRV and all the indicator lights came on at once . She shut it down and could not get it restarted unless she held her foot down on the accelerator and even then it sputtered and would not stay running. We checked the oil which was 2 quarts low and we have not had any issues with this until now. We put oil in it and disconnected the battery to reset the dash. I started it  ran for a minute just fine and made a tingy noise and sputtered and quit. Now it will not start and the mechanic who looked at it says he could not hand crank the motor . It still turned over but would not fire before we had it towed. Yes I know the oil was low no dummy lights came on until they all came on. What could be the problems with the motor?

these engines do have timing chains not belts, perhaps it jumped timing and then the chain got caught in the gearing somewhere.
