the giants who want to sell you more of their nasty product just want you to buy more...recommend Willie's Biodiesel...a cheap handheld paperback~
Where do you live that you can't find regular diesel gas? Antarctica? You have a brand new, expensive truck- follow the manufacturer's recommendations- if you knew you can't find diesel, why did you buy it?
Don't use biodiesel. It turns to sludge when it gets into the crankcase oil due to blowback.
Check what Dodge/Mercedes say about bio diesel. Dodge says 5% bio diesel in their pickups and no more than 20%.
Biodiesel is usually blended up to 20% in diesel fuel. Most truck stops for example, only sell B5 to B20 fuel. You're probably filling up with B20 already. If your engine is not properly maintained and you are using B20 for the first time, expect some clogged filters as it cleans out the engine dirt. Usually you pay big bucks for additives to do the same thing that B20 will do for you at a much cheaper cost. Not sure where Guru'sWTFZ1 is getting his info from. Take a look at the US Gov't National Renewable Energy Lab website (NREL.GOV) to see the many years of testing of this renewable fuel and judge for yourself.
From what I have read.... it's not a problem short term....and most fueling stations have a 5 to 20 rating....we went all the way across the USA and back with no problems.....if you are really concerned about this.... try and purchase your fuel from Chevron or Shell. I understand that they have less biodiesel and some stations advertise 100 percent diesel fuel. All stations are ultra low sulfur diesel. Mercedes Benz has a statement on using biodiesel...read it.

My owner's manual and conversation with the selling dealer confirm that MBZ states: "Do not use biodiesel with more than 5% biodiesel blend." This is cited in writing as grounds for voiding the warranty. Less officially, in conversation with the dealer, I am told that too much [more than 5%] biodiesel clogs the soot filter, and enough biodiesel gets into the motor oil to dilute it. Minnesota mandates that for the warmer half of the year B20 MUST BE SOLDd at all stations. The dealer [who wants harmony after the sale] recommends changing oil early, with recommendations varying from 10-18K miles rather than the usual 20K mile interval. Luckily, Hudson WI is 30 miles away and I can transport enough to minimize time above the recommended curve. I can leave aside concern for tropical rainforests and absurdity of small energy loss growing soybeans, but I cannot ignore the warranty. Bruce Parker
Hi Bruce, Mercedes Benz is going to give you the "party line"; although they know full well that this is a problem in some areas....my advice is just get your vehicle serviced regularly and change all of your filters. The really important thing to do is run the engine every two weeks for about 30 minutes on the freeway to clean out the diesel particulate filter....continuous local driving is not good on diesels. I have 46,000 miles on my Sprinter and it's a 3.0 turbo diesel.....these engines like to run on the open road. Good luck.
Bruce, one more thing....I concur with your dealer's recommendation to change your oil at an earlier time frame...depending on how you drive.
jamnblues, "Diesel gas"? Since when is there such a thing? It's one or the other
