My rear door sensor says the door is open but it is not. How to fix?

We had the door open for an extended time and when it was closed the dashboard
warning light remained on, the interior lights are on and if I try to drive I have the warning
that the rear door is open.

just an Idea, I have a 1963 thunderbird with similar door on/off switches, these of mine were sealed so before buying a new one I drilled a small hole in the contact end of the barrel, squirted in some electrical contact oil, swish this around then re checked. I had to repeat to get a good contact
