Asked by Ruth Dec 21, 2017 at 12:45 PM about the 2013 Lexus IS 250 Sedan RWD

Question type: General

I bought a car from Southeast Auto Group in April 2016. I found it on Cargurus.
They totally lied and misrepresented the car. I am only now finding out they sold me a car that they bought at auction that was announced as a frame damaged car. I have the emails to back up where they told me the car was great and outright lied about the damage. they said it was only a minor accident that involved a tail light. When I went to trade it I had the bombshell dropped about the frame in the report they pulled.

Many used vehicles are purchased at auto auctions by dealers and there is nothing wrong with that. Did you get a CarFax or similar report when you purchased the car? My guess is, no you didn't. Did you have an independent mechanic inspect the vehicle before you purchased it? My guess is again, no. Do some research the next time you purchase a vehicle and save yourself some grief. Whining about a dealer that allegedly screwed you on a car deal on this forum will get you about 10 page views or less. Post a fair review on Google reviews or file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Bob, I must disagree this time- getting a car that is misrepresented is a criminal act- Ruth is not "whining" here- she is reporting a dealer with lower business practices than usual- criminal, really- some "dealers" sink to the depths with their dishonesty and as far as used car dealers go, these are LOW depths, indeed-

My point was that there are better ways to report such miss-deeds. Also there are always 2 sides to every story, but would suggest the car dealer is in the wrong the vast majority of the time.

Yes sir, I did get a car fax and it stated a parking lot incident. I ask about it and they said just a tail light. I have his emails to prove it. I also hired lemon squad to inspect the car. They said it looked fine. It was for a year before it started having major issues at 31,000 miles. I lost 7-10 thousand when I traded it far below value because their car report not car fax showed frame damage. I do not know what else I could have done. Ruth Sent from my iPhone

Well I stand corrected. Sometimes if you do everything correctly it still blows up in your face. You may have a claim against Lemon Squad, but that would require lawyers and court. What issues did you have with the vehicle?

I thought I did it all. They flat lied about the frame damage, and told me it was just a tail light. We decided to trade it for a more practical car. That is when they showed me the printout from car checker? Or somthing that said it was sold at auction with disclosed declared frame damage. I have the emails to back up my side.

Oh and it kept leaving me, they could not find anything wrong. No fun getting towed.

I also had a bad experience with Lemon Squad. I had an inspection done, but had a feeling that the quality was just not there (they had missed some obvious scratches and the car had some vibrations that I felt were outside the norm for the vehicle). Brought it in to a local mechanic about 3 weeks after their inspection and found that I needed 2800 dollars in repairs. When I asked for a refund Lemon Squad told me since it was after 14 days I could take a hike. They really don't stand behind their inspections.
