I have a buyer that has agreed to my price, but now says he won't pay until after I get a third party inspection? Is this normal procedure for selling on this site? Thanks

If he wants a third party inspection, then that should be at his cost. I buy from some online vendors (like Coparts) and inspections are ALWAYS at the buyer's expense. The only thing you would offer is access to the vehicle by the inspector, and be sure to verify whoever is inspecting the vehicle is who they say they are (with an actual company and not some shady operator). If buyer insists you pay or makes unreasonable demands, move on to another buyer. Typically the only time a seller provides an inspection, is if they've paid for a "CPO", certified pre owned inspection, often done through a local dealership. Those cost about $200, it's a one time cost, and listing your car as having a CPO may put some buyers at ease.
I think he is trying to pull some kind of skame or can’t come up with the money. Whatever you do don’t go for the old I can give you a grand or two and make payments. Don’t let this person trick you into feeling sorry for them. No cash no car. I could be wrong? But just be careful. Arno 227
