A problem 2001 RX300 Lexus

Asked by Thomas Sep 29, 2020 at 12:12 PM about the 2001 Lexus RX 300 AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have 200,000 miles on my Lexus RX300 2001.  Sometimes lately when my
engine is running I hear  a small bell ringing like sound, but nothing happens.  I
have never heard this for 20 years.   Today it happened while I was driving and
for a second I felt I was loosing control of the steering.   It worries me, any
suggestions?

the ringing might be something has worked loose, or a worn pulley bearing that is driven by the serpentine belt. That's why you might have lost the power steering for a moment. I would drive right over to the garage for the mechanic to check it out. You don't want to loose steering or be on the side of the road.
