Help deciphering a 1969 Corvette block number please???
Asked by Trace43 Feb 04, 2016 at 04:33 PM about the 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible
Question type: General
The number on the block of my 1969 Corvette is 2195701153. The VIN#
ends in the same numbers as the last 6 numbers on the block. Can anyone
tell me which engine my car came with and tell me what options it was built
with? I jhave no history on the car, so any help would be GREATLY
appreciated.
Thanks,

It doesn't look like like that block is original to your car. You can check out VIN # and Identification numbers at the Corvette Action Center: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/specs/c3/1969/69id.html
Hi Robert, the last six numbers of the VIN and the last six numbers stamped on the engine block match, so it is the original engine. I just don't know which one.....

The last 6 numbers would indicate the car was built before the end of September, 1968. There should be 7 digits in front, starting with 39: 3932386, 3932388, 3935439, 3946052, 3955270, 3963512, 3956618 for various combinations of 350 / 427 ci engines and horsepower ratings. The '2195' doesn't make sense. Maybe it was a replacement crate engine that was then stamped with the build number from the VIN to make it look like the original engine.
