It's more of a psychological button to make a driver feel safe when traveling in snow. The button eliminates the first gear of the transmission to eliminate spin when starting off from a dead start. Basically the same thing as putting your car in 2nd gear and manually shifting up. Haven't tried it out yet since there was no snow in Chicago this winter!
