86 WON'T START?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 86 Corvette that will not start. It won't turn over at all, no clicking noise, not a thing. Has a brand new battery and even with a boost will not do a thing. All lights work and dash lights up but nothing else. Any ideas?

Check all your connections and make sure your ground cable is attached good to the body of the car....

If all the cables are good you may want to check the starter relay...

Seems it may be worse than I thought... checked all the connections and put the charger back on. Turn the key and get nothing at all, but if I take the car out of gear the dash lights go crazy and there is a buzzing noise through the speakers. Back in reverse, nothing???

Anti Theft system is diabling the starter. It should work if you disconnect the ground cable from the battery then reconnect it.

Anti Theft system is diabling the starter. It should work if you disconnect the ground cable from the battery then reconnect it. I HAD TO DO THIS TWICE A MONTH ON MY 1987 BACK IN 1989 - 90 AND TODAY 2018 THE SAME THING - ON MY 1986 CORVETTE, JUST GLAD I KNOW THIS TRICK -SAVES A LOT TIME AND MONEY ON TOWING.
