What is the difference in a 87 corvette and a 87 c4 corvette?

A 1987 Corvette is a C4-generation Corvette. C4 just means it is of the model years 1984-1996. (There were 1983 Corvettes made, and they were of the C4 style, but were never sold to the public.)
c stands for corvette, 4 stands for 4th generation. there are currently 6 generations. you can just say c1, c2 ,c3, c4, c5, c6 to narrow down what gen vette your talking about within the corvette comunity c1- 53-62 c2- 63-67 c3- 68-82 c4- 83-96 c5- 97-05 c6- 06- so saying a 87 c4 corvette is just redundant.
c4 84-96 typo. no sold 83, about 40 were made all destroyed cept one in the national corvette muesam. quality issues and changing the plant over were main reasons.
An 87 Corvette is the SAME car as thre 87 C4- the C4 is the designation of the Class or design coding
The c4 tends to explode a lot more than a normal corvette
