When I start my car during cold weather, the engine will "whistle" or squeel at a very high pitch and relatively loud. The whistling will eventually cease when the engine warms up. What is causing this and how can I fix it?

What Are The Belts Like? Is It A Cerpenteen Belt? Shineeeeee? Craked??? Some Cars Have An Ideler Pulley Or Two, They Can Go Bad, Some, If Over Tight=Skweek!! Have The Belts Checked And Or Replaced.

The 1995 Thunderbird uses a serpentine belt. Check the condition of the belt, and of the idler pulleys. Also listen / check for any other bearing such as alternator, water pump, power steering, and A/C pulley to see if you can hear anything there. You mention the sound as being a whistle - which can be a vacuum leak, or is it a squeal, which is more likely to be a dry bearing as I mentioned above.
