MPH Limiter

Asked by 19tbird95 Feb 12, 2007 at 12:44 PM about the 1995 Ford Thunderbird LX RWD

Question type: Car Customization

The car has a MPH governor that kicks in at 105.  I have been attempting to eliminate this for a while.  I tried using a JET Performance Chip, but it did not work, so I returned it!
The car is a 1995b with OBD2.  There is a performance computer that is available for the 1996 LX V8 with OBD2, but Summit and Jegs tell me this computer will not work with my car.  I suspect that it may, as it is a 1995b, and OBD2, but I do not want to spend $300 to find out that the computer does not work.
Any ideas or suggestions for other options?  I am not trying to spend a fortune either!

Hello, The only way to avoid the governors in these high-tech days is to get your computer reprogrammed. I would recommend taking to a performance shop and seeing what they can do. Best of luck! CarGrrl
