I believe your talking about the tachometer cause the speedometer doesn’t register RPM. A lot of Toyota models use the tack like an intermittent voltmeter during cranking, do you see some small numbers inside the regular tachometer numbers that look like voltage numbers? If you do then that is normal. It is part of the systems self check features. More information can be found in the owners manual. You really need to read it as there is a lot of of information on setup of your vehicles menu items.

I think you mean Tachometer. Are your gauges digital? The sweep is a normal part of the start up, the car is performing a system check and after that the engine idle settling down to 1000rpm is a normal cold idle. After the car warms up the engine idle should be down around 700. I think you are fine. Talk to your Toyota service advisor if you are still concerned

You are seeing the tachometer move, not the speedometer. It is normal to do that and I will assume it settles down to about the 700 mark after the engine warms up a little. The systems are working as they should. Its a brand new car - get used to how it works for you!
