1994 Bronco won't start

Asked by Wolfmancc Mar 29, 2015 at 09:00 PM about the 1994 Ford Bronco XL 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Having an interesting starting problem with
my Bronco.  5.8 engine. Turn key to
accessory,  fuel pump charges,  everything
works.  Turn key to start, it does nothing.
No clicks,  no turning over. Entire car goes
completely dead for about 30 seconds,
then power restores and is ok.  New battery,
starter checks OK,  new fender mount coil,
no bad fuses.  Possibly a bad relay
somewhere? Don't know where to check
next.

Has power but fails to crank when turned to start. You need power on the start enable wire at the starter. It gets it from the starter relay. Depending on the combination of parts in use on your vehicle, you may have a starter relay on the fender. Try thumping with the handle of a suitable tool while someone tries it. Inspect and service connections and verify case ground for the relay at the fender.

If the little red/blue wire powers up to activate the starter relay,The relay activates, then you need to check power and start enable circuit at the starter. As far as going dead for 30 sec. goes, I would check power distribution center for being connected well.
