front-left turn signal lamp not illuminating

Asked by Alatnia Nov 28, 2016 at 07:03 PM about the 1994 Ford Explorer 4 Dr Limited 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

'94 ford explorer, limited... so. all parts seem to be in working order, but i just cannot get the friggen front-left socket to receive power. i've checked the bulbs and fuses. i checked the bulb socket for corrosion and can't find any (... but i tried wiping the contacts anyway). the three wires that go to this fixture are frayed but they are still connected where the wire plastic is damaged. i still hear the clicking sound when it's activated while driving, and the rear-left turn signal still works normally. there are also no issues with the signals on the right side at either end of the vehicle. the hazard flashers work fine too, except for this one fixture. the white headlight above this fixture works fine as well, and it's power supply branches from the same bundle of cables that supplies the front-left turn signal. lol. whyyyyyyy isnt this thing working?? any help or suggestions would be tight. thank you for giving this a read!!

Check for power to the socket via a multi-meter or a test light. The ground is usually acquired from the vehicle body.

i just realized this morning that it still lights up when the nighttime running lights are on. it just won't flash when i turn on the left turn signals.

Is the sound you hear when you turn on the signal appear to be quicker than usual? If so, it's an audible indication the bulb is burnt out. If not, the flasher could be bad.

nah it clicks at the same speed as always. that's weird to me too. so far it's feeling like a wiring problem. it's just hard to decide how to tear into the hard-wire electrical junk under the hood without accidentally destroying other wires or other systems. thank you again guys, this is helping me a lot! i just got this vehicle, and i've never owned an SUV until now.
