The fuel pump will not stop running.

Asked by GuruDBQVXT Dec 07, 2024 at 09:15 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Express Cargo 2500 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Chevy Express Cargo Van 2500 with a 4.8l.
My question is after shutting the van off it sounds like
the fuel pump (or something else), but clearly heard, is
still running and continues until the battery is
disconnected.  Then when needed reconnected. I haven't
started throwing parts at it yet; I was hoping for some
experience advice first.  Thank you.

A bad fuel pump relay, GM's are known for bad ignition switches, it might not be turning off completely. You can't keep disconnecting the battery as eventually that act will corrupt the ECM and BCM and then you in for dealership nightmare getting it flashed to the vehicles VIN.
