Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Chevy Malibu Maxx and the right
front shakes when I hit the brake while going
around anywhere from 40 to 60 miles an hour it
shakes like something wants to fall off and I don't
know what is the cause of that if anybody has an
answer for me and let me know thank you

I think it could be the rocker arm would caliper but I'm not sure so if somebody can inform me more information about that I would be very grateful

if your brake pads are down to nothing it would do that , you definitely have a problem and should have it checked out

Hard breaking through a puddle of water can cause the breaks to warp. This has happened to a couple of my cars. Jack up the car and remove that tire. There are two bolts that hold on the caliper. Remove them and hang the caliper from the spring with a piece of wire (that keeps the tension off the break line). Remove the break pads from their holder. There are two more bolts that hold on the piece that holds the break pads. Remove them and lay that piece to the side. Put its two bolts back in the holes so they are not confused with the first two. Now you should find a bolt in the caliper with a torques bit (Star bit). Remove that and the rotor will come off. you can take it to the local auto parts store and they can check it for you. You can also use a torpedo level or any other type of straight edge and place it across the back of the rotor and see if one side is higher than the other or if it is twisted (Warped). At the same time, inspect the break pads for uneven wear. The front rotors should cost about $40 - $45 each and the break pads should cost $20 - $25 for the front. The good thing is you don't have to worry about replacing the front bearing on your car. and you can replace them yourself in about an hour. Make sure that you use jack stands and I always put my tire under the car as a second safety item. I'd rather destroy a tire than a limb! Good luck! I hope this helps.
