pouring out water by the water pump area

My 98 chevy monte Carlo z34 is over heating and
has water pouring out at a fast pace near the water
pump area I'm told.im getting several different
answers and I'm no mechanic so I'm coming to you
for help..please help me figure this out so i can get
my pride and joy back on the road.i have replaced
the thermostat but it's on the opposite side of
where the water is coming from.

There is a plastic elbow that is located there also one at the water pump to manifold. Dorman sells updated metal elbows. Do water pump at same time its winter and the last thing that you want it stuck w leak and over heat that can get expensive quick.
