Car is over heating on my 2004 Monte Carlo

Okay car said that hot coolant on security
window in the car so I pulled off the
freeway and popped the hood on the right
side of the engine when looking at it
started hissing and then started steaming
once the car cooled a little bit I took the
radiator cap off filled it with water and
now I need to pull more water back into it
cause it is empty again. A few months
ago the belts started squealing and when
I drive it to fast won't excellerate like it use
to and starts to shake really bad. Could
the shaking because part of the engine
problem

You first need to find why it is losing coolant. If it isn't leaking on the ground it may be going out the exhaust and that might indicate a blown head gasket. Next, is the check engine light on? If so get the trouble codes from getting it scanned at a local auto parts store and post them here.

If it is hissing out of the side of the block between the head and block, it's going to be a head gasket. Also check your oil to see if coolant is going into the oil. Dip-stick would show over full. It also may be a frost plug on the side of the block. But for it to have gotten so hot to do this, chances are you are going to have problems with the head gasket. Heads will warp. All you can do now is fill it up and purge the air out of the cooling system and see what it does.
