2000 chevy Silverado

Just got a 2000 chevy 5.3 with 192k.. had oil
change and all fluids filled, next day service
engine light comes on and a slight
ticking/tapping noise only when idle.. what
could cause this..

ok...so what weight oil was in it and what new oil did you put into it now..did you change/swap to syn.oil???? i would run 20-50 mobile 1...

That's a really good question, not sure what was in it got from Facebook private seller, and took it to prompto and they did the change. I just Figured they knw what there doing..lol

Bad bad bad. Overfilled engine, then a seal busted and now you aren’t getting oil up to the top of the engine (check oil pressure) or you got sold a burner they used heavier oil on to suppress any sounds/problems in heads. Running heavier then switching to lighter would allow for more play. I see this if my lifters act up on a cold start. It normally idles out but could be a real sign of ware. Besides the heads you may end up needing rings if it ever drained enough oil to matter for long enough.
