leaking coolant?

Asked by blue98thunder Dec 31, 2016 at 12:27 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Extended Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my truck hasn't been leaking coolant for the last couple weeks, and the
source of the leak is not evendent with coolant on the the ground or anything
like that. I think it might be burning  .I just replaced the intake manifold gaskets
and that didn't solve the problem. I have heard that it might be a cracked he
because the molding were made poorly.Just wondering if anybody knew
anything about it or knew a way to test whats wrong.  2001 4.8 l vortec

You can check compression in the cylinders, and do a pressure test on the cooling system. If it was a head gasket, you would either smell it in the exhaust, sweet smell, white smoke, or see it in the oil pan, check the oil to see if it is rising on the dip-stick.
