1994 ford ranger wont start or crank

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, I have a 1994 Ford Ranger.
It wont crank over, or just barely. Like the battery is dead. It doesn't click.
I have put in a new ignition switch ( the one in the steering column), a new alternator, and a new battery is the last 6 months. There were a few times when I would turn the key and nothing would happen, But it I took off the battery ground and then back on it would start. This happened all of a sudden and stranded me. I have a new starter relay on order, but I tried doing the screwdriver jumper of the solenoid with a freshly charged battery with the key in on and a got a few sparks but no crank. I'm not sure I did it right though since my Ranger has a manual transmission. My lights, and radio work fine. Any ideas? I'm really hoping it's not the starter. Any feedback is appreciated.

Either a bad ground, bad connection on the starter or bad starter

Just dealt with that in sons truck, 2000 Ranger 3.0 XLT. First battery then alternator, then starter. It sounds like what he had experienced.
